SimCity simulation engine reveal

The folks over at Maxis have decided to publish a video showcasing the new GlassBox simulation engine which will be used in SimCity (2013).

The engine focuses on how each aspect of the game will effect everything else in the gaming environment. This is obviously key to a simulation game, but Maxis seem to be proud of what they are achieving with GlassBox.

  1. Ok, this looks amazing. Anything SimCity 5(?) related is going to get me stoked, but I am very intrigued by the concept of resources and how they will affect the environment. And to think I thought Maxis had abandoned this franchise…

    • I like the idea that every individual unit is an agent in itself that can affect the environment. I can see a deep, complex simulation being built by Maxis. Can’t wait. Roll on 2013!
